As a 46-year Japan resident, I would like to know what, about this house, is ‘Japanese’–with its liberal use of white-painted concrete block. Yes, there are shĂ´ji inside, but that is just a detail. The fireplace could not be less Japanese. A MODERN Japanese house of the period would have been reinforced concrete.

Oh yes–the line of windows under the eaves…above the un-Japanese concrete block wall (which would be untreated cypress in traditional Japanese architecture).
