Holger Henning Hansen
Holger Henning Hansen arrived in Christchurch from Denmark in the 50s and built a family home in 1958 on a concrete floor using cavity concrete block walls – a technique subsequently used by all modern Christchurch architects in the 1960s and the first clear expression of its use in Canterbury.
Henning Hansen introduced Miles Warren to the architecture of Finn Juhl and Juhl’s own house is a clear influence on Warren and Mahoney’s ‘Pixie Houses’.
Notably, Holger Henning Hansen designed the NZIA award winnign CSA Gallery, the Christchurch Transport Board building and furniture for Paul Pascoe’s Christchurch Airport.
