“This book is not a solemn treatise on the art of architecture. It is about my life in architecture, about the process of designing and making of buildings, responding to clients and dealing with builders, the tos and fros and the ups and downs, the fun of being an architect.
It is illustrated not with photographs of buildings but with watercolour perspectives of the sketch plans presented to clients – about 80 of them, plus watercolours made when I was a student; on holiday and travelling overseas after I retired. The craft of setting up perspectives and making watercolours has been replaced by computers so these maybe some of the last to be collected”.
