We're not architects, we're not historians and we don't know much about anything. However we do like modern houses and Christchurch is a great place for them.

Designed in 1967 as two large flats, each with two bedrooms and a private courtyard. If there’s one thing Warren and Mahoney did well, it’s chimneys: proud, overscale and assertive. The larger flat is still lived in by the original owner and both are in good, unmolested condition.

29 Wadeley Rd. Wade House. Warren & Wahoney.

The Wades were farmers who once owned most of the land which is now Ilam.  When they sold the farm they kept some of the land and Warren & Mahoney did a few projects for them including this house and the Birchdale flats in Newbridge Place – a cul-de-sac full of Modern architecture and well worth visiting.

30 Newbridge Pl. Fletcher House. Hall & Mackenzie

Humphrey Hall desingned this Japanese influenced home for construction company owner John Fletcher. The home was built in 1964 as an advertisement for employing the services of an architect and the quality of good construction.
